Highway to Rocks Trail – Highland to Bluff, UT

This off-road adventure trail travels from Highland, Utah, to Bluff, Utah. Along the way, it passes through Green River and Moab. The trail has high mountains and low valleys, fast desert roads, and blue-level rock trails. This trail will give you a taste of everything that makes Utah trail riding so special. It has remote sections that will provide you with eerie silence and dark skies at night.

The name is a play on the famous song, Highway to Hell. Some people (like Dusty Dave) do not enjoy rock crawling, so he chose this name since he names the routes. Others may find themselves in heaven 🙂

Sample Trip

This is a monster of a trail. It has fast sections like from Castle Dale to Green River. It also has super slow sections south of Moab. Therefore, it’s a little hard to estimate how long a trip might take. Moab makes a convenient stop for a two-day trip. Longer trip options could include stops in Green River and detours into Monticello or Blanding.

Connections

On the northern section, it utilizes the same trail as the Dixie Trail. At Green River, it connects to the Book of Tavaputs Trail. At the southern end, it connects to the 3-to-4 Corners Trail. Loop options include doing the norther section to Green River, then hopping on the Book of Tavaputs trail to Vernal, followed by the Around the Uintas trail to get you back to your starting point. Or for a huge trip, start in Bluff and head west on the 3-to-4 Corners Trail, then head north on the Dixie Trail, and finally hop on this trail to wrap around south back to Bluff. That trip would easily be a week+ time! (but oh, so fun!)
